Character Information
Character Name: Christina Wendall
Canon: Hemlock Grove.
Canon Point: Post 13. Birth. She can be heard screaming from her grave just after her hair has turned back to normal.
Is your character Dead, Undead or Alive: ALIVE if only because werewolves in her world don't die unless you cut their heads off. Gypsies have a special ceremony where they have the heir cut the head off their kin. Christina did not have her head cut off so she reverted to her pre-wolf state - with the potential to turn into a wolf again.
History: I've never even heard my name.
Personality:

She is her own greek chorus now, and she is very sorry for everything that has happened.

A Greek chorus (Greek: χορός, khoros) is a homogeneous, non-individualised group of performers in the plays of classical Greece, who comment with a collective voice on the dramatic action.

Christina Wendall is complicated. That goes without saying, she's a teenage girl just coming into her own, entering puberty, and planning what should be a perfect life. She's a bit of a wall flower, but every high school needs the shy nerdy girl who sits in the back of the class and tugs on her hair when she gets nervous. The sort of girl who dates awkward boys and grows up and becomes an average person in a big city but is someone extraordinary in a small town simply because of her interest in unusual things. She could have gone far if she hadn't needed to be different - to be recognized so quickly now.

That's what drives her, a desire for recognition or at least for experience. She follows the creed of the artist - to live life freely. The problem is recognizing that at her age can sometimes (well, all the time) lead to stupid decisions. The desire to live free and being 13 going on fourteen years old can lead to drugs, teen pregnancy or becoming a werewolf.

In her case.

Other then that Christina isn't particularly developed. She's still seeking her sense of self and who she is physically. That sense of a place in the world that everyone is looking for through adolescence into early adulthood. Mentally she knows exactly who she is and is capable of making decisions about that quickly and succinctly. She knows she likes Russian novels and wants to be a writer. She knows that she needs experience and she knows that she wants to be free but she doesn't comprehend the cost of those things. She is physically very, very young.

Sexuality plays a big role in Christina's transformations. She is heterosexual, and she is very interested in sexual activity but not in the sense of actually having it, simply in the interest of feeling. She feels restrained and constrained. Her sexual awakening becomes twice as violent as it would be in any ordinary circumstances. She is the marriage of the perils of humanity's curious nature and human's innate inner animal. She is in fact the animal that they're talking about in the trailers.

Christina's arc is about the unknown and facing the unknown, facing the animal within. She describes it as "Going down the hole", referring to an incident in her childhood where she climbed into a piece of Godfrey Steel mill equipment and ended up scaring herself. It's that attitude which drives her - a desire to reach for the unknown and accept herself. It's one thing to know what you like. It's another to know how that fits into the world. She wanted to run and to feel free as opposed to being constrained - to live with experience.

Constrained - to her mind - means being stuck in the high school stereotype that she has been in for what seems like forever. She is a typical teenager in that- that she's unwilling to wait and craves the same freedom that Peter has. This is what leads her to follow him, without being convinced that she was special.

Her sense of self that extends to her likes and dislikes includes writing - everything from prose to poetry. She has a knowledge of Russian literature that she can quote on a regular basis and dreams of being the next Fitzgerald or Russian novelist, scholar. The tragedy is she would have been good at it, she was talented, and she would have gotten out of Hemlock Grove and gone to New York City and lived her dreams.

She just wanted to go down the hole a lot sooner then she had planned.

Abilities/Strengths and Weaknesses:

Christina is a werewolf (this game is officially werewolf capital of the world.) of a particular breed. She is also a vargulf. I have detailed the strengths and weaknesses in the following section entitled "So you have done something really stupid and become a werewolf."

That's important. Christina chose to become a werewolf. she read about how to do so in books and drank water from a wolf's paw. An astonishingly effective method of screwing up your life to give yourself super powers. Perhaps because of the lack of a pack or family structure (most werewolves seem to need a mentor.) Christina is also a vargulf.

WEREWOLF a furred creature, a human being that can turn into a wolf when the moon is full and possesses unnatural senses that are above the average human.

VARGULF a werewolf that exerts no control over it's transformation, dangerous, it behaves like a rabid dog and will attack anything. It's preferred meal however is human beings.

As a werewolf Christina has the following abilities:

COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION - in comparison with some of the other wolves, Christina can become a full wolf complete with snout, four legs, and fur. The transformation process Looks like this (warning: EXTREMELY GRAPHIC.)

As a complete wolf they have wolf attributes although canon dictates that they are at least two sizes larger then a regular wolf. Typical snout and paws. She and Peter (her closest relative) are roughly the same size with Christina being a smidge - a smidge larger.

HEIGHTENED SENSES Christina has a heightened sense of smell, taste, hearing, and touch. Though she hasn't ever really gotten an opportunity to use it. (at least, to enjoy it.) Consequently, using her abilities in the box will make for quite a bit of shock for her.

As a vargulf Christina has the following disadvantages and advantages:

SHIFT WHENEVER SHE DESIRES Peter has a similar ability (though he bought his at a terrible cost), Christina can shift with any moon. The reason for this is unknown, in this case I am choosing to recognize her as that she's so "wrong" she doesn't follow the traditional rules of nature. She is an abhorrent creature, ripped from the headlines.

WHITE FUR Christina has killed human beings, has a tendency towards killing human beings, and prefers to kill human beings. This marks her as a "killer" or an outcast, which is demonstrated by her white fur. While the wolf takes over (completely owning her) her hair changes color from brown to white.

All in all Christina is a killing machine, so out of control that she is - if caught early no danger to anyone whatsoever. She doesn't want to be like this, and is a victim of her own circumstances.

[There's a fzt. Then a burst of static followed by a woman tugging her hair into place. Woman? No, when the image resolves it's a girl.]

I hope no one's missing their phone. If they are I'm sorry. I found it. If they are.

I don't know how you'd get one of your own, but if we can... I'd like one. I mean I don't have any money but...

...Well. I think it's obvious I'll have to get a job right? I can work. I can clean, I can ...I can sort. I used to do filing for my grandparents. I used to help with taxes too! I...

I can do something. I really can.

[She swallows.] ...It's been adventure. I'll say that much.

Prose Log Sample:

She was hit with his scent almost as soon as she arrived. Rich and earthy and familiar, like the same sort of flowers in the store. A smell she knew as well as her own.

However given how they'd behaved the last time they were together she had no intention of revealing herself. Her grasp on reality was firm, and whatever had brought them together...she'd be a good wolf this time wouldn't she?

She knew she would. She knew she still could. She had to. The creature turned in her skin. She felt bloated and gross, pain aching in her body. She wanted to turn.

Fear of it did not even begin to qualify. So she watched the people in the town and stayed downwind of the other werewolves (Other werewolves!) and kept to herself until she couldn't take it anymore.

It chose a night filled with the smell of rain and wet earth. Lying there curled under a rock, whimpering to herself. It was it, the creature had no other name and while she couldn't shake that. She couldn't let it go. The creature clawed it's way to the front.

Like a boil finally being lanced. Like an itch finally being scratched. It crawled out of the depths of her soul and spirit - from the dark place that the hole led to and a white wolf raised it's head to the sky and howled.

The creature had no pathetic need for the boy. It was king of the forest, god and man and every owner of the wilderness that had ever been. The white monster moved it's way through the trees and the underbrush, it's name pain and etched on every door and window were it's marks. What did they say it was? A white wolf, I've never seen anything like it. A monster

But in it's wake there was only a frightened girl in torn and tattered clothing with her hair hanging in her face - white streaks like a spiderweb protecting her from the world around her. Relaxed, cheerful, carefree while reveling in the carnage around her.
